My Pretty Zombie is one of my favorite indie shops. Andrea, the owner, creates absolutely gorgeous colors and names them in theme with her shop. She’s about to have her anniversary sale (33% during the week of 6/30), and she’s also releasing a new collection that week. Andrea was gracious enough to sell me the Charnal House Splendors collection early so I could swatch it for everyone before it releases.
I’m not particularly well versed the goth aesthetic – my love for Supernatural, Penny Dreadful, and Orphan Black are about as dark as I go. The first thing I did was look up what a charnal house was – it’s basically one of those places where you see a bunch of skeletons stored in movies. The individual shadow names make more sense now! There are five new shadows being added to My Pretty Zombie’s pretty extensive line up, all of which are absolutely gorgeous.
The swatches below are over Urban Decay’s Primer Potion on top, and UDPP with Darling Girl’s Glitter Glue on bottom.
In Rust is a traffic cone orange with a slight yellow shift.
Blue Fungus on Corpses is a blackened blue with a green shift.
Noxious Agents is a light brown base with a green-gold shift.
Homemade Death is a greyed purple with a blue shift. Obviously this is my favorite, but when I saw this from the sneak peeks this past week, I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do. I was expecting it to be darker, but it’s a very wearable purple.
Demons Are My Bitches is a slihtly sheer white with a very pale pink iridescence to it.
Since I don’t have any looks to share with you, here are more swatches!
Overall, I really like these shadows. They’re exactly what I’ve come to expect from My Pretty Zombie, and I can’t wait for the sale to happen so I can throw all my money at Andrea.
My Pretty Zombie shadows retail individually at $5 for about 1.5 grams of shadow. The set of all 5 in this collection is $20, which you can get for $13.40 after the discount.
You can find these starting Monday, June 30, as well as the rest of Andrea’s amazing shadows at her website here.
